In addition to research, you may participate in teaching activities, such as supervising student projects, lab exercises or tutorials. Teaching and departmental duties may account for up to 20% of the position.

Entry requirements

To be admitted to third-cycle education, the applicant must meet both the general and specific entry requirements for the subject, and be judged to have the ability required to benefit from the education.

General entry requirements for third-cycle education (according to the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 7, Section 39) are met if the applicant has:

  • completed a second-cycle degree,
  • completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits are at second-cycle level, or
  • acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.

Specific entry requirements

You must be able to benefit from third-cycle education and have strong skills in written and spoken English. Proficiency in Swedish is considered a merit.

Selection criteria

Among applicants who meet the general and specific entry requirements, selection is based on their ability to benefit from the education (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 7, Section 41).

In addition, selection among qualified applicants will be based on the following criteria:

  • Knowledge in electric power engineering, power electronics, and power system analysis
  • Experience in modelling, simulation, and experimental work
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken

In a holistic assessment of suitability, the following personal attributes will also be considered:

  • Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
  • Strong collaborative skills and willingness to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Motivation to complete a doctoral education
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both oral and written

All employees at MDU are expected to treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for their work and contribute to a good working environment.

We value the qualities that a balanced distribution of age, gender, and cultural or ethnic background brings to our organization.
