Jobbannons

We are looking for a Doctoral student to become part of our team in the Division of Systems and Control at the Department of Electrical Engineering. Join our innovative team and contribute to exciting research in learning and control in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

About us

At the department of Electrical Engineering research and education are performed in the areas of Communications, Antennas and Optical Networks, Systems and Control, Signal processing and Biomedical engineering, and Electric Power Engineering. We work with sustainable and smart solutions to societal challenges, such as energy efficiency and electrification in areas ranging from transport and production systems to communication solutions and biomedical engineering.

You will join a group within the Automatic Control unit of the Systems and Control division focusing on data-driven control methodologies.

About the research project

In many scenarios (arising, e.g., in biomedical systems), performing system identification is challenging due to the system complexity and the limited data-set size; however, often data coming from related, similar scenarios might be available. In view of this, the goal of this project is to advance the theory and practice of multi-task learning. The problem will be framed in the context of kernel-based methods for identification, aiming for a principled representation of task-relatedness; derivation of uncertainty bounds; and a rigorous analysis of learning rates.

Who we are looking for

The following requirements are mandatory:

  • To qualify as a Doctoral student, you must have a Master's degree (masterexamen) of 120 credits or a Master’s degree (magisterexamen) of 60 credits* in Engineering or Applied Mathematics, preferably with a major in automatic control or similar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
