The recruitment of a doctoral student in Textile Management at the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management is being carried out within the research profile TexAI - Knowledge in AI-driven innovation for circular ecosystems in the textile and fashion industry, funded by the Knowledge Foundation. TexAI is an interdisciplinary research and innovation initiative conducted in collaboration between the research areas Textiles & Fashion and Business & IT. The overall goal is to implement AI-driven solutions in textile engineering, fashion and textile design, textile management and business-oriented IT, with the aim of promoting a green transition in the textile and fashion industry. The project is run in close collaboration among academia, business, and industry.
The doctoral student will be part of the research groups Textile Systems and Computational Intelligence (TSCI) and Textile Value Chain Management (TVCM). TSCI applies a systems-oriented perspective and advanced computational intelligence in studying the complex interplay of production units, technologies and organisational structures within manufacturing and supply chain environments, with the aim of strengthening system performance, agility and sustainability. TVCM focuses on the development of industry structures and business models within textile and fashion companies that enable sustainable value creation for the industry, the environment, and society at large.
Textile Systems and Computational Intelligence (TSCI)
Doctoral studentship employment includes four years of study in order to achieve a doctoral degree. The research studies are part of the project "TexAI - Knowledge in AI-Driven Innovation for Circular Ecosystems in the Textiles and Fashion Industry, funded by the Knowledge Foundation.
As a doctoral student, you will conduct your own education and research up to a maximum of 100% of full time. During your doctoral studies, you will be expected to:
Employment is conditional upon your meeting the requirements and being accepted as a doctoral student. Admission is to the doctoral programme in Textile Management.
To meet the general entry requirements for doctoral studies at doctoral (third-cycle) level, a person must have completed a Master’s (second-cycle) degree, or completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are at the Master’s (second-cycle) level, or in some other way acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or abroad. Special qualifications are required for those who have completed a Master’s (second-cycle) degree in textile management, industrial economics or equivalent competence that is assessed as equivalent.
Other requirements:
Once you have been admitted to the doctoral programme, you will be awarded a Doctoral Studentship Employment. The initial Doctoral Studentship Employment can be a maximum of one year and can then be extended by up to two years at a time. The total time as a doctoral student employee may amount to a maximum of eight years, but may not exceed the time corresponding to four years of full-time studies at doctoral level. Salary is set in accordance with the university's local agreement for doctoral students.
Type of employment: The position as a doctoral student is full-time for four years in accordance with Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
